ANIMONSTER!!!

Oh blog how I've neglected you... I guess that's what happens when you get a job. But HEY! This post is all about what I've been working on at said job!
So for the past 5 months I've had the great fortune of working at the illustrious MAKER STUDIOS for the brand new animation channel: ANIMONSTER! I've directed about 7 episodes of two different shows, PowerHouse and Dino Yacht Club. It's been an awesome experience! So check it out, this Friday 12-02-11, the channel premieres it's 3 new shows! click here>> ANIMONSTER

Shiny pants

Cute feet.

Saturday Afternoon

Just experimenting with different render techniques...

ha, oops... I just realized the table and tv cabinet are hovering off the ground in this one... it took about 20 minutes to render each of these so I think we'll let this one slide.

it's so much fun just moving a camera around in Maya to get all kinds of different compositions...

1984 Classic

based on Apple's legendary 1984 ad

Girl at Beach

I've been working on this character for awhile now. I've finally rigged her and obtained a fantastic new shader from Scott Peters. I'm thinking of just putting her in a bunch of simple vignettes. The one above is the most minimal I have planned, more complicated ones to follow...

Haunted House CG Model

I've been doing a lot of CG modeling lately. My next few Blog posts will probably be some models I've been working on (plus a new cat game for the iPad!)

Here's a haunted house I recently modeled, which is based on one of my favorite Disney shorts, Lonesome Ghosts

This last render was kind of an accident, I'm not really sure what happened, but I kinda liked it, so here you go...

I just made the WORLD'S GREATEST VIDEO GAME (for cats, not humans)

Here is my latest game: iPad Game for Cats. And wow, I must say the hype on has been insane. The Game for Cats YouTube video has over 800k hits and the game has sold pretty well. We've been featured in the NEW YORK TIMES, the LA TIMES, ABC NEWSKotaku, Gizmodo, G4TV, Laughing Squid, CNET Digital CityPeople Pets, and countless other places.

Also, many of our users have put up videos of their own cats playing our game, which I think is awesome--

And here is the game's website:
Game for Cats
From here you can see the popular video and a link the download the game for free. It comes with two levels: Chase a Laser and Chase a Mouse. The mouse level is 99 cents. The mouse and laser react to kitty's paws when touched and a score is kept on how many times they do this.
Stay tuned because we will be updating the game soon with some great new features!

The thing is, this game truly is the world's best video game for cats.

UPDATE!!!
Just released GAME FOR KITTENS!!!
We've had many people ask us to please put Game for Cats on the iPhone. So we did! And we're calling it Game for Kittens! A smaller screen for smaller cats! But honestly we think all cats will enjoy it.
You can get it here:

I made an iPhone game!

It may seem that I've posted virtually nothing this summer, but I've actually been pretty busy with a few projects. For one, I made an iPhone game! Actually, I only did the art for it and my friend Nate did the programming. It's a very simple children's game for ages 2 and up. It's called Jacob's Shapes, and it's a puzzle game where you simply drag the pieces to their corresponding shapes. When you place a piece correctly, a voice says the name of the piece. That's pretty much it! It is intended to be educational- children learn shape recognition as well as names for animals, objects, etc. The game will be in the iTunes App store in about a month. To learn more, visit http://www.littlehiccup.com/.

Below are a few of the levels that will be available in the game.

Film Update!

So my cartoon is nearing completion, there's practically one month left. It's definitely the most ambitious film I've attempted since I've been at Cal Arts, for one I am hand inking every frame, not to mention coloring the whole thing! Here are a few raw key drawings from some animation through various scenes. This film is going to be a blend of 2D and 3D elements. All the characters are 2D hand drawn, but there are many 3D backgrounds, as well as a 3D Trans Am!
